Biology Book Club
Participation is highly encouraged for students who have extensive prior knowledge of a particular unit, OR who desire an additional challenge in Biology. Students may choose to participate in one or more book clubs. There are class copies available for each text, however, if demand is high some students may be asked to secure their own copy of the text through other means.
Students will be expected to read part or all of the text (depending on which book) and will respond to comprehension and discussion questions, provided by the instructor. Each reading will culminate in a book club discussion, to be held at lunch on a predetermined date.
This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your knowledge of Biology by engaging in relevant and challenging texts with the support of your teacher and fellow students. Students from across classrooms and teachers are invited to explore Biology together. We are excited to have you involved in this group and look forward to your participation!
For the 2015-16 school year the book club choices are as follows:
Semester 1
Four Fish: The Future of the Last Wild Food by Paul Greenberg
Genome: The Autobiography of a Species in 23 Chapters by Matt Ridley
Semester 2
Endless Forms Most Beautiful by Sean B. Carroll
Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan
